About Me

I’m a former technology and business journalist who became a financial regulator in IT risk at the New York Fed and then an independent consultant. I started Risk Musings to cover “risk management for regular folks, with a heap of systems thinking.”

That means I write about risk in life, macro risks like climate change and AI, and business risk. I believe system dynamics, as explored by Donella Meadows in her book Thinking in Systems, is a missing link between engineering and social sciences.

In my spare time, I write songs and fiction and make visual art. I’m a big fan of domain-crossing, as Rohit from Strange Loop Canon puts it: learning a lot about different fields to boost creativity and draw on many wells for inspiration.
